21 Statistics That Will Make You Think Twice About Going To College

More and more people are questioning college – it’s not just me.

This  article highlights reasons why people should reconsider college, and the data is scary.  I didn’t know most of this when I read it.

#2 In 2010, the average college graduate had accumulated approximately $25,000 in student loan debt by graduation day.

#3 Approximately two-thirds of all college students graduate with student loans.

#15 One-third of all college graduates end up taking jobs that don’t even require college degrees.

#16 In the United States today, over 18,000 parking lot attendants have college degrees.

#17 In the United States today, 317,000 waiters and waitresses have college degrees.

Here’s what I think:

Those who need to go to college, should.  These are typically people with little financial means or without major businesses to inherit.  If you are in this group, I recommend that you do a lot of planning before, during, and after.  If you need help, contact me.

Those who want to go to college, should do so as well.  These are the ones who don’t need an education, but perhaps want to go have fun for four years on campus.  They shouldn’t delude themselves however about the economic benefits that they didn’t plan for.  Still, if this was you before/during college, but afterwards you fell into the first group, I can still help you.

Will you go [back] to college?  Why or why not?
